Building the future
Once the documentary is completed, the collaboration between Rippel and The Legitz will move into its next phase: developing a permanent dance and community arts studio in Kibera.

Rippel will contribute architectural expertise and work closely with The Legitz to design a space that reflects the organisation’s needs, identity, and ambitions. The studio will be developed together with the people who will use it, with The Legitz and the local community at the centre of the process.

Why are we doing it?
The Legitz have already built a strong community around dance, mentorship, and creativity in Kibera, but they do not have a permanent space to call their own.

The vision is therefore about more than creating a physical space. We want to help create a permanent home for The Legitz and the community they have built around them; a safe and accessible place where children and young people can meet, train, create, collaborate, and grow.

Purpose
The purpose of the studio is to give The Legitz a permanent base from which they can continue developing their organisation, expanding their work, and creating opportunities for children and young people in Kibera.

An important part of the project is long-term sustainability. Together, we want to explore how the studio can create activities and income opportunities that strengthen The Legitz financially and help the organisation become more self-sustaining over time.

What will the studio offer?
The studio is envisioned as a hub for dance and movement training, youth mentorship and leadership development, community workshops, cultural exchange, creative education, and artistic collaboration. Above all, it will provide a safe and welcoming space for children and young creatives to come together, express themselves, and develop their skills.

Through local ownership, international partnerships, and cultural exchange, we hope the studio can become a place that grows alongside The Legitz and the community around it, not only as a space for dance, but as a home for creativity, opportunity, and connection.
